Whole Foods Sets Opening Date for Greensboro The Greensboro store -- which is renovating space once part of the existing Sears store at Friendly -- is part of the company’s strategy to expand in North Carolina, where it will open three new stores this year including locations in Charlotte and Wilmington. Total project costs for the 34,000-square-foot Greensboro store will amount to more than $8 million, said Scott Allshouse, regional president for Whole Foods. Allhouse said the store will employ 165 people, of which about 65 to 70 percent of the employees will be full-time workers.
